Pitcairn Island - Telecoms Market Overview & Statistics

One of the most remote inhabited islands on earth, Pitcairn Island is a self governing British territory situated half way between New Zealand and Panama. Pitcairn was the second last place in the world to be directly connected to the international telecommunications network. Until recently, the island was served by a single phone line and limited Internet capacity. However, in September 2006, thanks to funding from the British Government, all homes now have a private telephone, a DSL Internet connection, and UHF TV. Please note that very few statistics are available in this report due to limited availability of information on the local telecoms market.
